Miniature Greens

I remember Daddy had a bonsai plant back then. He cultivated it with much care, snipped here and trimmed there. The little tree looked nice actually. I mean, like a proper bonsai. Unfortunately, it was stolen one day, when Daddy left it out in the porch for some sun.

Damn the bonsai burglars.

Turkish was curious from the read on the magazine about an ongoing Bonsai Exhibition in town, so we went to M.Timiryazevskaya to check out the buzz. I dunno to laugh or to cry when we got there. Firstly, the so-called exhibition was in the basement of a small building.. very inconspicuous location. Secondly, 2/3 of the exhibits looked bad. Absolutely non-bonsai material.

No good, no good at all

I thought this horticultural practice is supposed to be lively and create positive chi surroundings. To begin with, the tree and the pot ought to form a single harmonious unit where the shape, texture and colour of one, compliments the other. This exhibition displayed mostly the opposite. I ain't no expert but those pictures above, doesn't take a genius to tell that they are defects.

As we walked around, thank God there were some okay-looking ones. At least we didn't come here for nothing (2 days of uninteresting visits is our downfall). Most of the dwarf trees are for sale and I think they are overpriced for its quality. No style, hardly any character and whoever owns it next will need to do a lot of trimming and overdose it with TLC (tender, loving, care).

We got out of the basement, and the air on the streets however polluted it may be was definitely more refreshing. Poor plants. I feel kinda disturbed. There are so much going on in Moscow right about now and we chose to come here LOL

At least someone cares for the growth of this tree
