On Strong Roots

Today, I finally got the honour to meet my boyfriend's best friend, Hakan.

At some point, I thought Turkish didn't have friends and was prolly bullied in school all the time because he was such a nerd. Thick glasses, bookworm and top student. He's never called any of his friends when were in Istanbul before, so how can you blame me right :P

Turkish and I went over to the Anatolian side of Istanbul at noon. You see, Istanbul is smacked between the European and Asian continent. We live on the European side, across the Bosphorus Strait. Hehehehee kinda complicated, ya. Anyways, weather was considerably fine. Turkish was so excited as if he was going to meet his first true love, but even I was excited for him too.

People on the Asian side are pretty conservative

We then headed to Kadikoy, a cosmopolitan district on the shore of the Marmara Sea to hang out.The both of them didn't see or heard from each other for 2 years, maybe more. I could see that they share a beautiful friendship, definitely came a long way together. Hakan speaks Turkish, perfect German and English. He described that their friendship "is based on strong roots so there really isn't a need to hear nor speak to each other much".

Hahahahahahahaaa I told him, "It's different with my girl-friends".

We are on the Kadikoy district

Old residencies with vines crawled up their walls

We went to have tea by the seaside, had lunch in a famous diner (since 1981) and had ice-cream after that. It was fun, just walking and chatting away. We also watched a movie together.. Watchmen (damn, damn stupid movie). I'm very happy for I know Turkish has a funny, joyful and loyal friend. You tend to learn alot about your other half after meeting his/her friends. It's just different, I don't know how to explain it.

A passing by yatch.. nice!

Well, at least my pics now aren't white with snow LOL

Hakan is brilliant. I loved his quote, "Snobbish girls who think they are beautiful has this face like they are constantly smelling farts" and then he mimics them, sniffing sniffing LOL Aaaahhh.. we look forward to meeting more him in near future. There are more friends Turkish plans to catch up with and I think they are must be just as fun!

Yea, cannot agree more with knowing the other half better after getting to know the bff(s). And very pretty photos you have there! I like the first 2 of flowers and the small election flags. = )

The election flags here are okay. Some districts are overcrowded with them.

Election's at the end of the month!
