Memoirs Of Moscow

I'm not exactly sure how to write this.. let me just be straight-forward.

Turkish and I are leaving Moscow for good. We didn't plan for this really but after discussion and planning.. I see it as a blessing in disguise. Some of you might remember my V-day post, I wrote "something bad happened the week before" and this is the conclusion.

It was a fool's courage to try something different as in to stay on here. I still haven't really saved any lives yet, if you know what I mean. I'm optimistic though (I should be) and I have a good feeling about my road ahead, however long and hard it may be. Turkish is very supportive and we love each other too much to part ways.

Here's a bit of a Q&A made by me:

Q - So what's going to happen now?
A - Start a new life, most probably gonna practise (for real) in Istanbul.

Q - Why don't you return to Malaysia?
A - I'm really not sure.. haven't given back home much thought to begin with.

Q - What about your family?
A - My Mum's happy about the whole deal. Hahahaa she always says that Fats and I should venture abroad so she could travel in between. Also, she is very fond of Turkish and believes that I'm in good hands. We have her blessings.

Q - Isn't it a waste of time, money and what about your PG?
A - I have the transcripts from my 1st term, perhaps I could continue in future. I wouldn't say everything went to waste because I found out that doing post-grad in Russia isn't good enough for other countries, especially the ones I wish to go to in future!

Q - Are you sad about this?
A - I'm pretty excited actually. Turkish's parents are helping us in every way they can, making some calls and gathering info from different parties. Turkish can continue his phD (which he had put on hold) again and the options available for us right now seem bright. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But yes, there is some weight of disappointment that I couldn't finish what I stayed back for.

Q - Are you serious about being a doctor?
A - Of course I am. It's just that I'm delayed by unusual circumstances. I know I don't look nor act like one, people tease about me being a licensed killer and such but I'm sure in time, I'll be a good doctor. I'll do my best to bring out the knowledge I have to practice. My aims are not to be world's famous or the best in the country, I just want to do my part in the society.

Q - Can't you return for housemanship?
A - Sometimes I do think about the "what if" question. But really, it's not the matter of being like everyone else or wanting to be special or anything like that. I could return for my housemanship but I just chose to walk the road less taken. I'm still happy, and that's most important.

Q - Any last words before you leave?
A - I know my leave was sudden and untold, like how I stayed and let the news unfold.

I'm sorry to those whom I should have bade proper farewell to.

I will always miss Moscow for I have made my 2nd home here. I don't like its people, never will but the city is wonderful. The freedom, things we could do/ places we could see, museums and galleries - its richness in arts and history, etc. Oooohhh.. how I'll miss them all. I hope those who have more years here find the same beauty like I did.

Uhhmmm.. that's about it.

"I'll never forget you.. Goodbye, Moscow."

Guess I'll be blogging from Istanbul then? ;)

*just a short/not-so-detailed entry because this is a scheduled post.. right about now I should be on Aeroflot by the window, sipping a cuppa vodka orange juice.. Turkish might be reading the inflight magazine

sob-sob.... well, it's a risk worth taking. Life's all about taking some calculated risks. Don't take the risk, and you'll not be successful.

I was rather "amused" by this question & answer:

Q - Why don't you return to Malaysia?
A - I'm really not sure.. haven't given back home much thought to begin with.

It's an irony - given a chance, many would just wanna leave Malaysia for good not because the country is bad, but the political situation is - well....[no adjectives to describe it] - it used to be good way back in the 60s and 70s. Sigh, don't miss Malaysia too much besides the Penang "char kuey tiau", "kueh chap" and Gurney Drive :)

I'm not good at sniffing risks. Most of the time I don't know how to recognise a potential one. But I do hope for the best ;)

Thank you for all the well-wishings, my friends!
